It is great that you have finally started exercising. You are on your way to wellness. But are you doing exercise right? There are many mistakes that people tend to make when exercising, which is rather counterintuitive. personal trainer Edmonton are an integral part of our lives. They help us achieve our goals by motivating us to work harder and smarter.

Moreover, exercise mistakes can also increase the risk of injury and pain, meriting then the intervention of a Physiotherapist in Karachi.  So, to continue your journey of fitness and wellness, avoiding the common mistakes is important.

    Exercise mistakes to avoid

    Not warming up

Warm up is not option; it allows your muscles to get warmed up and ready for the upcoming workout routine. It also gets your heart rate up. If you skip warmup, you are also then at a higher risk for injury.

So, make sure that you do warmup. It allows your blood flow and temperature to increase, which then improves your performance and range of motion. Moreover, proper warm up allows for enhanced performance, and increased endurance as well.

Thinking in terms of time, not outcome

If your target is blindly working out for x number of minutes, your approach needs correction. You need to have a proper goal out of your exercise regimen, since time is not a good enough measure of the quality of exercise.

    Not being consistent

To benefit fully from exercise, you must stay consistent. Otherwise, you might not be able to achieve your exercise goals as well, or to benefit from the purpose of exercise.

Not having a proper exercise plan

While you should be physically active always, not having a proper execise plan is not the right way to go about things. It helps to know what your intention for exercise is, if you are using all your muscles, or simply targeting a few and having a proper time and equipment for it.

    Not eating or drinking right

When exercising, you must be sure to take adequate diet. As your body builds muscles, there is a greater need for proteins as well. Similarly, it is vital that you pay attention to your water intake, as excess sweating can lead to hydration as well.

    Not listening to your body

It is important to push your body, but not so much that it leads to injury. Instead of blindly following the exercise routine, listen to your body. Take breaks if you must or go for variations in workout if it is getting too much for you. Slowly build your endurance, as otherwise, your body might not fare well.

    Not measuring your progress

Most people think their weight is the only representation of their exercise progress. However, if you get stuck on this alone, it might then cause you to incorrectly assess your progress.

Everyone has different body composition, and so, your progress will also reflect in the varying composition. Moreover, exercise also helps people stay fit in terms of their measurements as well. So, look at your progress holistically.

Thinking you have worked out too much

Conversely, some people might overestimate their workout session. Just because it was hard for them does not mean they have burnt a lot of calories or are going to wake up with lean muscles.

While it might not harm your health per se, it can associate wrong expectations and mindset out of it. If you are exercising to build lean muscle or lose weight, the lack of quick results might be disheartening for you, causing you to abandon your routine altogether even.

    Not changing your workout routine

You need to continuously challenge your body, as otherwise, it may lead to you hitting a plateau. If your intention of exercising was to lose weight or build muscle, you might not see progress then.

So, try to vary your routine, especially when it becomes less challenging for you.

Not having the correct posture or technique

Having the correct posture and technique is imperative. If your exercise pose is not correct, it can lead to injuries then. So, make sure that you are correctly following the instructions. If you do sustain an injury, visit your doctor at Evercare Hospital immediately, to improve your prognosis.
